Q: What is Rivers of Eden?

Rivers of Eden is a community-first initiative designed to help people rebuild stability through participation, contribution, and shared support.

We start virtually, connecting people through a local marketplace and coordinated opportunities, and over time, that grows into something much larger: housing, shared stewardship, and long-term community stability.

We are building a self-supporting ecosystem that's relational first, physical second.

Q: Why the extra account validation when joining the app?

No fake accounts allowed!

Because this only works if the people inside it are real.

We don’t allow fake accounts, bots, or anonymous participation.

We use tools like Google’s anti-bot services to ensure that when you interact with someone, you’re interacting with an actual person.

This protects your time, your energy, and your safety.

Q: Why is this “locals only”?

Rivers of Eden is designed for real-world connection, not anonymous internet activity. We only allow people from the Tri-City (Bay City, Saginaw, and Midland) region because:

  • you’re working with people you can actually meet

  • trust builds faster when it’s local

  • scams and bad actors are dramatically reduced

This isn’t a global marketplace, it’s a community you can step into in real life.

Q: I’m a seller: why do I need to set up Stripe Express?

Because we want you to get paid quickly and reliably. Stripe Express allows funds to move directly to you, often within a couple of days, and sometimes much faster. It also ensures:

  • secure transactions

  • clear recordkeeping

  • minimal friction once you’re set up

Once it’s configured, you don’t have to think about it again; you just focus on your work

Q: Is this just another marketplace?

No.

The marketplace is just the starting point. It’s how we:

  • create income opportunities

  • build trust through participation

  • make contribution visible

From there, it grows into workforce coordination, shared support systems, and eventually physical community.

Q: What does “virtual first” mean?

It means we build the community and coordination before the buildings. Before land, we establish:

  • work opportunities

  • shared responsibility

  • trust and follow-through

  • real participation

Only after that do we move toward housing and physical development.

Q: What is a HALO Community?

A HALO Community ("Homes Anchored in Legacy and Opportunity," by Terra Global Developments) is a small, shared living environment built around:

  • 5-7 homes

  • shared space and responsibility

  • coordinated work and daily life

It’s not charity housing. It’s a contribution-based community where families participate, produce, and build stability together.

Q: Who is this for?

Rivers of Eden is for people who:

  • are rebuilding or stabilizing their lives

  • want to contribute, not just receive

  • are willing to participate in a real community

  • understand that trust is built over time

This is not passive support; it’s active participation.

Q: Is this a nonprofit or a business?

Rivers of Eden operates as a nonprofit initiative, but it uses real economic activity to support its mission.

That means:

  • people earn income

  • value circulates locally

  • the system strengthens itself over time

This is how we move from dependency to durability.

Q: I like it. How can I help?

Right now, we’re focused on activation.

We’re looking for:

  • buyers and sellers in the marketplace

  • people who can help coordinate and support operations

  • community members willing to participate

  • introductions and word of mouth

If you have land, property, or alignment with this vision, we’d also like to talk.

Q: Is this a “rescue” program?

No: this is a builder model, where people remember what it means to be a steward within their community.

We’re not here to “save” people. We’re building something where people:

  • contribute

  • grow

  • and help stabilize each other over time

Culture first, infrastructure second. Stewardship always.

Q: What happens if someone doesn’t follow through?

It’s visible, so we address it

We adjust participation

We protect the community

This system is built for people who show up.
